SURF: Facts and figures
The SURF sport information portal is the BISp’s scientific research platform for sport science, politics and sports practice. It is your first port of call when doing research. You can search the BISp’s databases that are integrated into SURF, on the BISp’s website and other external sources.
The SURF topic page provides additional information about the integrated databases and external sources as well as the functions of and tools available in SURF. You will also find tips on how to enter concrete search requests.
BISp databases
The databases operated by the BISp are the core components of sport science information processing: SPOLIT (sport science literature), SPOFOR (ongoing and past sport science research projects), SPOMEDIA (sport science media) and the Sport specialist information guide (sport science online sources) provide specialist information on all sport science-related subject areas.
Other external sources
In addition to the databases operated by the BISp, you can use SURF to research literature data in external sources. Freely available sports-related data sets on scientific archiving services that are available via the University of Bielefeld’s BASE search engine are integrated via Open Access. The following source systems are currently integrated into SURF: Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS) and PubMed Central (PMC).
